Susan Palmgren, Ph.D.

Dr. Palmgren has been a clinical psychologist for more than fifteen years. She works with individuals dealing with anxiety, panic, depression, sleep disturbance, and life transition. Dr. Palmgren also has a strong interest in the psychological health of seniors. She is Licensed in Maine as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

 

Prior to relocating to Maine, Dr. Palmgren worked in the Adult Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic at the New York City Health+ Hospital/Harlem and served as Director for the Psychiatric Recovery Center at Mt. Sinai/St. Luke’s Hospital. She also ran a successful private psychotherapy practice in New York City for more than eleven years.

Dr. Palmgren focuses on helping individuals to overcome panic, anxiety, depression, co-occurring chemical dependency and mental health issues. She also helps her patients tackle and cope with grief, sleep disturbance, life transition, and severe mental illness. She uses an integrated, recovery-grounded approach to building wellness. She is a level I AEDP therapist (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Therapy). 

 

Dr. Palmgren is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire. She earned her Master’s and Doctorate at the New School for Social Research in New York City, and completed both her Psychology Internship and her Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Mount Sinai/St. Luke’s Hospital in New York.

 

After many wonderful years in New York, Dr. Palmgren and her husband moved to Portland, Maine in 2019.
